My mind was instantly filled with memories, the morning I saw John's obituary. I first met him in Baker's Ice Cream Palace, I liked the ice cream and I liked John. Over the years, we were on the Chamber Board together, fellow members of the Merchants Association, and even participated in the San Luis Obispo Christmas Parade along with John's big red Fire Truck. I remember John as a dedicated city servant. He served the Morro Bay as a City Council member, and was also on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce. Were it not for John's perseverance, there would be no fireworks show. I considered him to be a close friend. My condolences to Donna and family. John will be missed.

We will miss you, John. Each year at the three church Good Friday service and procession, I miss you out in front leading the group. Each year since you fell sick, and someone else was leading the procession, the thought always strikes me, John should be out front.
Shortly after you became sick, we formed a group of old WW2 flyboys. We meet every Friday morning down at the French Bakery on the waterfront. We sit around for several hours chewing the rag and drinking coffee after...
