He was seriously funny, a musical mentor to me, a fellow computer nerd, and a great guy to have a long lunch and talk with (as long as the restaurant Muzak “orchestra” wasn’t too loud. I never met anyone like him, and I likely never will again.

John was an idol of mine throughout his long and wonderful career. I loved his sense of humor and his humility. He never spoke of his many accomplishments but it was so clear to all of us what a genius he was. I mourn his loss and shall always remember the positive impact he had on the Atlanta music scene.
