John Milton Barfield

November 15, 1947 – October 25, 2024

John Milton Barfield passed away peacefully at home in Carolina Shores, NC on October 25th, 2024. He grew up in Ayden, NC and was the only son of Rose and Milton Barfield.

He is survived by his wife, Pam of 40 years, daughter, Leigh Anne Barber (David), granddaughter, Avery Barber, and son, Mike Helms (Ginny).

John had a caring nature and desire to help others, which led him to a career in law enforcement. Later in life, he retired after a long career in the electric supply business. He loved all things outdoors and could often be found fishing or playing golf. However, his greatest passion was riding his motorcycle with his wife Pam. They shared many adventures riding out west.

John will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He will be most remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity. He left a lasting impact on those who knew him best.

His family extends a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice who devotedly assisted him during his final months of life.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 23rd at his home, 577 Slippery Rock Way, Carolina Shores, NC between 1 and 4pm.

Donations may be made to your local animal shelter or St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.

Please leave condolences for the family, here, on our guestbook.

Not sure what to say?

John was my brother and best friend. We played a lot of golf together. After we both retired we would get together for lunch every couple of months. He had the best sense of humor. We would laugh so much the restaurant employees and customers would give us the look.
He was there for me during my wife’s illness.
I will miss you my brother. Rest in peace. Keep em laughing until I get there with you.

I worked with John at Electric Supply and we also rode our motorcycles together on great trips out west and also locally! There was no one more loyal and a great friend than John!! We also loved his sense of humor lol. He will be missed greatly what a great family he hadsending our love and prayers.
Love you John

Pam and Sweet Family
Growing up together in Ayden we all loved Johnny! May you feel our love, hugs & prayers, Cora Hart

A great friend growing up. We played sports together and he was an outstanding athlete. Have many great memories from our days together growing up in the Ayden community. He was a good person who will be missed by all that knew him. Walter Claybrook

John (Johnny ...known by his Ayden, NC friends) was a very good childhood friend. He was an excellent athlete, playing on the Ayden School football that was undefeated his senior year. He received a grant in aid to Duke University. He also played baseball and could hit the long ball. We goose hunted and fished together at times.
In his later years he played golf with the Ayden guys.
To all his family and friends my sincerest condolences.

Our thoughts and prayers to Pam and their family for John's passing. He was a kind hearted man and good neighbor.
