BEVERLY- Mr. John S. Barry 87, of Beverly, beloved husband of Mary (Kessaris) Barry died Monday morning May 2, 2011 at Beverly Hospital.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Mary Alice (Chambers) Barry. He was raised and educated in Salem and moved to Beverly in 1948 where he has since resided.
An honorably discharged veteran, John served his country as a member of the United States Army during WW II and was a recipient of the Bronze Star for valor.
Mr. Barry had been employed as a Quality Engineer at the General Electric Company at its Riverworks plant in Lynn for over 46 years until the time of his retirement.
A long time communicant of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Beverly, John was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Elfun Society at the General Electric. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his daughters Dianne G. Field and her husband Kevin of Amesbury and Elaine A. Geratowski and her husband James of Boxford, his three grandchildren Timothy, Bryan and Jill, his brother, Philip Barry of Marblehead and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers, Saturday at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Village Cemetery, Boxford. On line guestbook at www.legacy.com.
