John on the Cains River (1993)

Nan, was so heartbroken when I called on Monday. John hosted and participated in many wonderful MAA fishing weeks. He had a phenomenal casting arm (proof included below) and could turn a perfect loop on the Mighty Miramichi, the Cains or the Renous. It was almost like magic. John (as well as Duncan and many others) were politically to my left, and I always enjoyed hearing his version of the truth. An amazing sense of humor, a teller of stories (of fish and other matters) he was always a joy...

Dear Nancy, Susan, Sarah and John- we are so very sorry to hear about John. We enjoyed all the stories and shared many laughs when our families got together. We will pray for peace and comfort for all of you and your families at this time. Johns love for nature and his work in preserving the environment will be recognized by our family every time we enjoy our beautiful surroundings in this state. John has left his mark on our family...Love Matt,Selene,Connor and Ethan❤

I enjoyed fishing and whiskey sours with him at Rapid River, as well as many opportunities to speak about sports, life and the law. For each of these, I am immensely grateful.

I enjoyed salmon fishing with him at the MAA, and arguing politics with him. He will be missed by all MAA club members.
