John Seymour Belew

John and Ruth always made me feel welcome in their home off of 84. He always impressed me as a true Renaissance man and was clearly a life long learner. My condolences to Jay and Janet.

My condolences to the family. John was my guardian angel and champion at Baylor. Bob Collmer recruited me, but John made sure I stayed. At the end of every day, as I give thanks for the people who helped me in my life, I never forget John Belew and his kindness.

I attended church together with the Belews at Seventh and James for decades and got to know John better in a Bible study we have held weekly for the past few years. John was a gentle, kind, brilliant man with the highest sense of integrity, honor, and caring. I will never forget seeing him attend friends retirement parties and presentations even at age 102. I extend condolences to his family and friends, as well as thanksgiving for his meaningful life of service, learning, and love. I feel lucky to have met him and talked several times. Thanks be to God for the life of John Belew.
