John Thomas (Joe/Joba/Junior) Benthall, Jr. passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was born September 16, 1930 to John Thomas “Johnny” Benthall, Sr. and Florence “Bootie” Hazelwood.  Joe was a 1948 graduate of Newport News High School, a 1955 graduate of Langley NASA Research Center Apprentice School and retired from there in 1993 as an Electrical Technician.       


He leaves to cherish his memory with his loving wife Dorothy Routten Benthall; his son, Terry J. Benthall (Elizabeth Estess “Beth”), and their children, Emily Benthall Weathers, (Paul), Jonathan N. Benthall (Bonnie) and Michael T. Benthall (Meg) all from Simpsonville, SC; his daughter,  Mindy Benthall  Bischoff (John/Jack) and their children, Rachael B. Hardy (Joey), Deborah B. Larson (John), John “Stephen” Bischoff (Brittany), and  Eric A. Bischoff  (Beth) all from Leeds, Alabama; his sister, Shirley B. Benson, Smithfield, VA; his step-children, Annette Watkins, Summerville, SC, Karla S. Watkins, Poquoson, VA,  Kevin M. Watkins,  Fort Myers, FL.


A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 04, 2024, at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, Hampton, officiated by Rev. Eric J. Vaudt.  A visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 1 – 2 PM at the church.  Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery, Fox Hill.
