Not sure what to say?

He was my math teacher and I always loved him. I did not know he had passed until now. My heart goes with him and to his wife and family.

Wow! I can't believe it's been a year already. It seems like so were just here. Oh my goodness we miss you so much. I know that your happy, healthy and rejoicing in heaven. I think of you every single time I look at my horses. I love a miss you!!! I will always be grateful that the Lord brought you into our life. We are truly blessed!

Doc will be greatly missed by our family. He not only was our vet ,but friend, comforter, and teacher. He was on our " good guy list". Thank you for always being there when we needed you most. The world is a better place because you were in it.

John changed my life. He not only was a great math teacher and basketball coach, but he wrote a recommendation for my Harvard College admissions application. I remember where I was standing when I first read it. Tears rolled down my cheeks. Apparently, John believed in me more than I believed in myself! I'm sure he touched the lives of many students, and it is not surprising to learn that he touched the lives of many more people as a kind and talented vet. My heart goes out to his family. I...

John was my vet since the seventies at Open Ridge Stable. His patience and care for both his human and horse clients was exceptional. He tended to my mare when she was pregnant and later her colt. He always took the time to make the horses easy and unafraid of whatever procedure he had to do. I will forever remember his patience, understanding and humor. God Bless, John. And His peace to all of your family.

I was privileged to know John since the 70s at Open Ridge Stable. His patience and care of his clients, both human and horse was outstanding. He had an easy way with horses that lessened their fear of "the vet". He gave me great advice when my mare was pregnant and after the birth of her colt. I will always appreciate his kindness, understanding and sense of humor. God Bless, John. And His peace to all your family.

You are all in my prayers. Besides being an amazing vet, he was always kind and willing to share his knowledge with anyone that asked. His love for God, other people, and animals was very evident. He will be greatly missed. Hugs for you all.

Dr. Berends was my first equine vet when I was 15 years old. I had a very ill colt and eventually we lost but not before Dr.Berends taught me an enormous amount and changed my life. Years later I walked into his room, at the then Butterworth hospital to help take care of him. He laughed and said I´m about to find out how well I trained you! What this man of God taught me has stayed with me to this day. My career in horses has spanned over 44 years now and my equine health care base came...
