Not sure what to say?

Such a shock that he's gone. It seems wasn't that long ago I spoke to him on the phone. It was always a valued experience meeting or talking with him. I appreciate his invite to stop by soon. He was such a rock-solid figure to me, so technically proficient, and what a patriot! He helped to get modern aviation started. John will always be remembered for his daring WWII bombing raids and OSS missions-Operation Greenup being one of the most well-known.

I have known hundreds of WWII...

John, friend, mentor, and inspirational "compass". He accepted an invite to be a guest on my radio show (https://wingsaroundamerica.com/2017/07/23/listen-to-captain-john-tonight-sunday-july-23rd-2017-at-700-pm-eastern-live-on-the-internet/#) and started a warm friendship to include a visit to his home and calls along the way. I personally remain richer for his time spent and indebted to his kindness, love of aviation, and perspective. Barb, my sincerest expression of love and support.

My condolences.
