Even though Dr. Blackburn has been gone over 14 years, I would like to pay tribute to the Dr. who cared for me as a 12 year old with rheumatic fever. The disease was a long process and very hard but my parent and myself could always count on him. I have been a nurse for 53 years and achieved a doctorate in nursing in my career. I taught at two prestigious universities and took my research to Australia but loved being at the bedside in NICU as my favorite nurse place caring for the smallest...

I had lost touch with where Dr Blackburn was,but sooo sad to hear of his death. I'm from Dimmitt.Tx and he was my Dr all through my childhood and until I was 19.
Dr Blackburn was the most kind ,caring Dr I have every had. So glad to read his accomplishment and I now am a nurse working for a Dr who is so much like Dr Blackburn. My prayers are with your family as you go through this time is you life. Jeanette Seely Williamson

Dear, dear Dr. Blackburn. I was so sad to hear the news today and want the family to know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Our family moved to San Antonio in January '82 and appeared at his clinic a short time later with one of our six children with an emergency. That was the beginning of 12 wonderful years of his friendship and knowing some of his children. Miss Bea was so special. They both always had time for me. I am saddend by the news of Dr. Blackburns passing. RIP Dr. Blackburn, I wish more doctors would take the time to listen too there patients it provided much needed comfort and confidence.
