Not sure what to say?

I had the privilege to care for Mr Blackshear for the past 2 years. He was a wonderful man. He defied many odds of Alzheimer's. He was kind, quick witted, intelligent, dignified and loving. He was a true southern gentleman. He made me smile every day.
Writing this reminds me of one of his favorite quotes; "The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ moves on. Nor all thy Piety nor Wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line. Nor all thy tears wash out a word of it"
I will cherish...

Mr. Blackshear hired me as a first-year teacher following my student teaching at Mary Esther Elementary in the summer of 1971. He was a gracious, kind, and supportive principal to his teachers and a gentle and inspirational principal to the students under his care. I have many fond memories of Mr. Blackshear, and I am blessed to have known him. It was an honor to begin my teaching career with such a fine man.

To Helen, Tom, Brenda and the family,
Your dad was a wonderful and talented man who who touched and inspired us all. Those of us who were lucky enough and blessed to have worked with Mr. Blackshear were witness to his positive influence on children. His leadership made such a difference. I will miss his quick-witted humor and will cherish the many fond memories.

May you take comfort in knowing that Mr. Blackshear was a true gentleman and that as, a school principal, he served as a role model for both students and teachers. His positive influence on the lives of those with whom he came in contact will continue for years to come.
God bless you.

I have fond childhood memories of the Blackshear family at Baker Methodist Church, and always enjoyed visits to your home in Baker. Mr Blackshear was a man of character and integrity and an example to many of us in our youth.
Praying that God will comfort you and give you His peace as you say goodbye.
