Not sure what to say?

John was a good friend of mine and a Pershing Rifles fraternity brother while we were both at the University of Cincinnati. Please accept my sincere condolences for a loss that came way too soon. Mark L. Grotke, COL, (USA Retired)

What a great tribute Stubby. I remember that day at the O'Club. I think we were all so happy because you and John looked like you were having so much fun. Semper Fidelis, Gator

Besides fling in 533, Blackjack and I had a relationship around his Corvette and Hobie Cat sailing. He Corvette was a mess when he first got it but he knew that I had rebuilt one of the same year when I was at the Naval Academy. As we approach Memorial Day weekend, it is important to remember those who served their country and are no longer with us. Our prayers continue to go out to Dabney and the boys, and life goes on. Remember, 'If you say my name, I will live forever'. May you rest in peace dear friend.

You´ll always be in our hearts Know you made a difference in all our lives. Love you

Served with John in Fallon, NV at Strike U. I remember that he was a great person and Marine. So sorry for your loss. Michelle Smith, USN

We missed Blackjack and Dabney at our A-6 Reunion this year. Outstanding Marine aviator, leader and friend. We miss you, Gator

I´m so sorry to read of John´s passing. I was looking for relatives. My grandfather was John A. Blum. I hate to say I´m not 100% sure where he was from. My daddy, William John Blum, had a brother, Richard Blum, who I do know lived in Cincinnati and retired to Florida. Is this family any kin to mine who have all passed away? My e-mail is [email protected] (205) 601-1442

I offer my condolences for your loss. Blackjack was a special person. He was always positive, competent and fun to fly with. He is missed.
