John P. Bogdan "Bucko", age 66, of Shelby and formerly of Portage passed away unexpectedly in Niland, California on December 20, 2014. John was born January 27, 1948 in Gary, Indiana to the late Anthony and Helen (Lipsky) Bogdan. John was the former owner of JJ's Pizza Shack, he was a former Cub Scout leader of Troop 430, and a former employee of US Steel working in the railroad transportation department.

John is survived by his loving wife Linda M. Bogdan of Shelby; two daughters Windy (Solomon) Cartagena of LaCrosse and Toni R. Bogdan of Portage; two sons Paul (Hannah) Bogdan of Portage and Phillip (Cynthia) Bogdan of DeMotte; two sisters Doris (Kurt) Schaefer of Florida and Mary Zartman of Akron; seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Helen Bogdan; a sister Patricia J. Bogdan Cuellar; and three brothers Anthony B. Bogdan, Jr., James J. Bogdan and Carl Bogdan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday January 5, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46405 with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Indiana. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Most of my childhood till age 10 had you in it. I miss your smile, your laugh and just knowing uncle Buck was around. You were so loved.

My thoughts are with your family. I enjoyed my time working with Grandpa at JJs. No matter what the situation he always had great advice to give! He will be missed.
