John was my cousin on my mothers' side. I have very pleasant memories of Thanksgiving holidays spent in Ft. Wayne with John and the family. We always kept in touch. Just a couple years ago he and I canoed the Platte River in Sleeping Bear National Park in Michigan. That was a very tame paddle compared to some he had done! I never made it to his cabin in the Upper Peninsula but I know he loved it there. I surely will miss him.

I remember John from Jr High and High School. A shy guy, cute as a button, who became a very good friend in high school. I feel so blessed that I was able to see him and get one last hug at our 55th reunion this year. Rest easy, John. The "Great 68" will all be together again one day. Save me a spot at your table!
