I knew John when I was a child. He rented a house from my father while he worked for the Audubon Society in the Los Angeles area. He had a profound influence on me and instilled a life long interest in nature and birds in particular. I still have one of his old "Field Guide to the Western Birds" which he passed on to me when he got a newer edition. Occasionally I would run into birders in the field who knew him and only had good things to say about him. I'm sure he will be missed by many as...

I met John while singing together in the Ventura County Master Chorale. Always joyful, witty, and positive, he was a charming man and a joy to know. My deepest condolences to his loved ones.

John was a long time friend and a fellow Rotarian. I haven't seen much of him lately, however, he was always remembered as a fellow of good cheer and plenty of advice. Quite some time ago I mentioned to him that I had to travel to Washington DC and that hotels were very expensive there. He told me about a bed and breakfast (B&B) where he stayed when he would travel to DC. Sure enough, the next time I went east I called the B&B and they knew John well! I live in ventura and was from Fillmore I knew john from church and his work with the conders up sespe he was a very nice man.

John was a fun guy to be around; always with a joke or three to tell. I loved singing with him in the Ventura County Master Chorale.
