Not sure what to say?

Dear Mrs. Braastad & family,
On behalf of the Nautilus (SSN571) Alumni Association, please accept sincere condolences for the loss of your beloved John. When reading about John's life, I recalled that many shipmates have said that Nautilus defined their lives. Clearly John was an exceptionally special person. John's departure on Eternal Patrol will be announced to his shipmates and recorded in the log at Nautilus Alumni website. May our Lord bless and console you during this time of...

He seemed like a great person. Loved reading about his life. Best wishes to his fam and friends-someone that never met him

To the Braastad Family,

On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on John's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. Oh We are so very sorry to see this! Just loved seeing these two at the Albion rendezvous! What a terrific person. I will always remember that great smile and the sparkle in his eye! God bless yo and give you comfort.

John was a great man and a pleasure to work with. When my family and I were new to NW MN and Agassiz NWR, John was very welcoming and helpful. He was always in a good mood at work passionate about his duties. He will be missed!

John taught me a lot about refuges but mostly how to manage your people so things got done. John was one of the last true refuge managers. If you had the opportunity to work for John, you would have been blessed with a mentor who would have formed your career. John was practical, old school and loaded with common sense. He was my friend, colleague and trusted conservationist. Anyone who Knew John found their own lives greatly enriched because of it. To say John will be missed is an...

I'm very sorry to hear of John's passing and your loss. John was a wonderful guy to work with; a virtual "rock star" in restoring wetlands of which he had no equal. Recruiting John to work with us at the Windom WMD was one of the best moves I ever made. Our prayers are with you during this extremely painful time. Steve Kallin

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. May you find much comfort from our God of comfort during this difficult time (Act 24:15)

Our deepest sympathy is with you, Sue, Casey and Corey. We were so sad to hear of John's passing. There are so many good memories of the Boy Scout days in TRF. He always had a smile on his face and a great sense of humor. Keep the great memories you have with him, close at heart. Praying God's strength brings you peace and comfort.
