Dr. Breen was my professor in several classes in the late 1960s, and served on my PhD Committee. He was the first Professor who taught me the fundamentals of Reinforced Concrete, a topic which in fact became the most important subject matter in my education and career. As busy as Dr. Breen was in teaching and research responsibilities, he always had ample time when I needed his advice. He was available to provide guidance and assistance in his office in Taylor Hall and at Balcones Research...

Jack was my academic advisor, a mentor, later a colleague, and always a great friend. I will always cherish my memories of our association .

I knew Jack as Dr. Breen. He was my teacher, advisor, and friend in UT Austin's Engineering School during the late 1970's. He taught me a great deal about engineering. However, that is not what I remember. I recall him always having time for me and having a great sense of humor. He had a "corner" office in Cockrell Hall.
