On December 28, 2010, John O. Bronson (73), of Arbutus, MD, died of Renal Failure. Mr. Bronson was born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 6, 1937 to John O. Bronson, Sr. and Jeff Elinor Bronson (nee Sutherland) of Booneville MS. He graduated in 1957 from Central High School in Memphis TN. In 1963 he earned a Bachelor degree in English Education and History from Mississippi State University, and in 1965 a Master's of Library Science from the University of Mississippi. On June 11, 1966 he married Patricia Ann Packer, a fellow faculty member of John C. Calhoun Technical College. She died in March 1989. During his life he was a Librarian and Educator, working at John C. Calhoun Technical College, Decatur AL and Chesapeake College, Wye Mills, MD. He was one of the founding faculty members of Chesapeake College, beginning in 1966. He retired from there in 1999. In 1974, after leading fraternity members from Chesapeake College, he began working on restoring the historic Wye Mill in Wye Mills, MD and was the Miller until 1981. His hobbies included reading American History, riding trains, listening and playing music and being with his family. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baltimore where he served many years on the Church Council. He was also a charter member of Primetimers Baltimore. Mr. Bronson is survived by his Domestic Partner, Richard L. Spittel and their dog Getrune, of Arbutus, MD one son, Glenn C. S. Bronson, Sr. of Conowingo, MD, and a daughter, Victoria P. E. Carpenter of Sudlersville, MD. Also a brother Wade H. S. Bronson of Corinth, MS and a sister Katherine B. Solenberger of Springfield, VA. Grandchildren Elizabeth M. I. Bronson of Miami Beach FL, Jacob J. A. Bronson of Easton, MD, Patricia Ann Carpenter of Sudlersville, MD and Glenn C. S. Bronson, Jr. of Savannah, GA.. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1900 St. Paul St., Baltimore, MD and the burial of his cremated remains will take place the same day at 3:00pm at the Old Wye Church Cemetery, Wye Mills, MD.
