Not sure what to say?

Many of us in the Sussex neighborhood have missed seeing Mr. Brooks sitting out on the front lawn to greet all who pass by with his warm smile and friendly hello. I was saddened to find his obituary today in yesterday's Plain Dealer, and saddened to have missed the services this morning.

His charm and friendliness were wonderful features of our neighborhood, and I'm sure he will be greatly missed. He and his family will be in our prayers.

Dear Lageita (Reuben) and Clairesa,
I pray that the comfort and blessings of God will engulf you during this transition in your lives. Know that my prayers and thoughts are with you.

I met Mr John Brooks back in the 60's at Camp Baumount. We were both Scout Masters and would take the scouts to camp for a week every year. When ever we talked he would always end his conversation talking about the scouts and how much he enjoyed scouting.

My Uncle John was a kind, compassionate man. The robust sound of his laugh was contagious and I loved when he shared stories of growing up with my mother and the rest of their siblings. He will be truly missed.

My girls have been asking abour Mr. Brooks for sometime now. On Summer days they loved to walk down and say Hi, and he would always shake their hand. We live just close enough so they could go by themselves and I would watch them from our lawn. The neighborhood will miss that sweet man always out front moving his chair from one shady spot to the next and waving to everyone.
