Not sure what to say?

I met John in the Summer of 1969 at a National Science Foundation Summer Workshop for Talented New Your City High School Students. We became friends. We attended Manhattan College together, Math and Physics, and then Perdue University. I left to pursue medicine and John left physics for computer sciences. He was and always will be my friend.

Broph......The name we called you at NSF,Manhattan College and at Purdue. We studied,we socialized, we recreated and worked together. I only shared time with you from 1969 to 1976 but I smile looking back and I still call you my friend. Make God keep you until we study together again. Blessings to you and your family and friends. Regards....Al

I have known John for most of my 17 years at VNI and have worked with him quite closely on various projects over the last dozen years. I have always admired his great knowledge and even though I am in Colorado we would often have long phone calls ranging over a wide range of topics. I will certainly miss him and send condolences to his family.

The Manhattan College alumni community keeps all of us up to date with sad news. As a Manahttan Collge graduate, I share the grief in a small way. Our mutual community has been reduced. I will keep John F. Brophy in my prayers.
Sincerely,
John Peter Rooney, MC, 1965.

It was such a pleasure to work with and know John. I pray that his family will find comfort in knowing that he was admired by all who worked with him.

I enjoyed my interactions with John having worked with him at IMSL/VNI from 1988-1993. He was a brilliant man - could hold a conversation on most any topic. I have a mental image of him in the conference rooms at work with his McNeil/Lehrer coffee cup. He was a great guy and will be missed.

This month on John's 25 year with Visual Numerics we share in the grief of his family who has lost a dear human being and family member.

Few may realize the contributions John made to VNI and John being a very humble person would never expound on his achievements. A professional whose best guesses were more reliable than most people’s facts, whose mentoring instilled us with confidence and whose legacy leaves us with comfort we will never forget.

As part of the VNI and IMSL...
