I'm so saddened to hear that Dr. Brown passed away. I remember his amazing talent and the days he would come to the big ciy (smile) of Thomasville, Alabama and host musical workshops at New Hope No. 1 Baptist church. We love him dearly and I learned so.....much through him. I had to be around 9 years old when I began singing and now I'm 32 still singing because of one of God sent man of God so musically talented. May God be with the family and friends.

RIP John. John was a light to so many who knew him. For many years, he graced us with his musical talent in the Selma area. Our church musical programs were enhanced because of his ability to be sincere about choirs and choir members and his ability to make us laugh. He certainly had a way with words. I am saddened to learn that my childhood friend is gone. We met when his grandmother and my mother visited. His talent was evident at 7 years old for he would sing and play the piano at the drop of a hat. John David, rest in peace.
