John Carl Brucato, of Portsmouth New Hampshire died September 22, 2015 at home after fighting lung cancer for the last 1 year and half.
He was born Sept. 13, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of John Angelo and Emma May (Hackett) Brucato. John spent his growing up years in Brooklyn, Queens, Haverhill and Bradford, MA. John met his wife, Deborah, in Bradford, MA in 1979 and they married in 1980.
John enjoyed working with the public. He worked at Rich?s Department, Channel Home Center, Toys R Us and several restaurants. However, John enjoyed working at Wal-Mart on Lafayette Rd, Portsmouth NH the most. He loved helping the customers. John loved his Wal-Mart family. It pained him to leave Wal-Mart when he could no longer work due to his illness.
John was a member of the Codfish Coalition. The coalition helped each other in many ways, such as mowing lawns and snow blowing drive ways for the neighbors who could not do it themselves. The coalition brought him great joy.
John was a great lover of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He watched every game.
John is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Deborah J. (Lewis) Brucato. His sisters Erma Sarkisian, Beverly Brucato, Mary McCluskey, Cathy Morrison, brothers Eugene Kopp and William Kopp, and many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins. John will be missed by his many friends, doctors and nurses.
Services: A time of visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Friday, September 25, 2015 at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth, with a funeral service following at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations in memory of John may be made to Rockingham VNA & Hospice, Community Relations: Attention- Vivian Brown, Exeter Hospital, 5 Alumni Drive, Exeter, NH 03833-9905.
