John Herman Bruning

As we approach the 17th anniversary of John's passing, we all remember our brother John. He gave to his country for his military service and worked many hours on the farm helping his father. We ask God to hold him in the light of his presence. John is joined now by his older brother Richard who passed away on December 6, 2024. May God keep them both until the rest of the family joins them.

Dear God,

So many decades ago, a small boy said nightly prayers for John.

This small boy asked that you protect John and keep him out of harm's way while he served his country in a foreign land half a world away.

You were asked to ensure that John returned home safely. You answered those prayers and brought John back safely to his Earthly home.

Today there is sadness on earth as we lay John to rest, but there is much rejoicing in heaven as John takes his place next to his Savior. We take comfort knowing that we are not saying good-bye, but that we will meet again in Heaven. I will miss him and his wry sense of humor. John was a gentle soul that reached out to others. He knew no strangers as everyone became his friend. We will carry John in our hearts forever.

On behalf of the Bruning family, thank you for serving your country in a time of war. Also thank you for being a loving brother and loving son. You were always kind hearted and thought of others. We will miss you and may you now rest in peace.
