John "Jack" Bunzel

I just now came across Dr. Bunzel's obituary. I was a secretary to Dr. Bunzel back in 1987 at the Hoover Institution. I laugh at how we went back and forth on whether a comma came before or after parentheses. He put the typewriter (did not use computer) to use and I loved his old radio blasting big band tunes or jazz in his office. I am sorry for your loss. I am glad I was honored to work with him.

We have known Dr. Bunzel as a friend and patient, who was a delight and
always brought smiles and laughter. We also enjoyed sharing Chinese food together.

On behalf of my late husband, Paul E. Ash, I would like Dr Bunzel's family to know how admired he was and how he influenced a young, searching SF State student's mind. Paul treasured his Political Science classes with Dr. Bunzel. The last time we met was after one of Dr. Bunzel's speeches at The Commonwealth Club.
