Not sure what to say?

John...my leader, my friend. I'll always remember that first day I met John. He had his suit bag slung over his should and asked directions to the men's locker room. He quickly began taking care of issues that had arisen due to lack of adequate leadership. He became my respected "Boss', fearless leader and good friend. He helped me get a "pop corn machine so my ski club could raise money for ski trips. We had many discussions over coffee...from politics to school affairs and family...

John was my Principal at Haverhill High School. During his tenure he developed a Night School Program for struggling students, the ROTC Program which is one of the most respected JROTC Programs in the area. He expected and demanded the best from students as well as staff. John was a mentor and a friend who encouraged me to become an administrator. I enjoyed working with him and learned so much from him about leadership, empathy as well as raising the bar first and foremost for myself. He...

RIP John. Such a multi talented man. I am glad for the conversations we had over the last years. I appreciate all I learned from you. Godspeed your back with your soulmate in heaven. Jeff Orr

He came. He looked, listened, and assessed. He identified problems, and worked to correct them. He was fair in his addressing student issues. To John Barruto, educator, and U.S.Marine, " Fair winds.and folowing seas......"

Our father, Jack Heffley, worked with Mr. Burruto in the Amherst school system for many years. Running a middle school is a tough task and our dad always admired John´s skills as an educator and his dedication to the students. Our thoughts are with you. - Pauline Heffley, Jim Heffley, Kim (Heffley) McOsker

John was always such a character. Loved spending coffee time with him at Kelly's. He brought order to Amherst Jr/Sr High school, at a time it was so badly needed. He really cared about "his kids". My thoughts and prayers go out to David, Justin and families. RIP JB. Job well done. Bob McAllister
