I salute my Dear and faithful comrade. We served in the Same Company A 5th Engineer Bn. the 3rd Platoon, the same Squad. When I was wounded on 2/19/45, D-Day, and our Sargent was killed, he took me to the Aid Station Through out our Marine experience he was a loyal brave and trusted comrade. After WWII we remained in contact by mail, telephone and Reunions. We were closer than brothers in difficult times and I will join him in the not too distant future. So sorry for your loss! John was our mailman for many years , and always shared a smile and warm greetings.
As a fellow Marine we always shared our many experiences. We both were in the same regiment in the Marines, although at different times. I served in Vietnam.
He will be greatly missed!
