John J Callahan

John J. Callahan, 88, of South Plainfield, died on Saturday, September 29, 2018. The Funeral will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from the Rossi Funeral Home, Scotch Plains, at 8:45am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am at St. Bartholomew’s the Apostle Church, Scotch Plains. The Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.

John was born in Plainfield, and has been a lifelong resident of South Plainfield. John is a graduate of Plainfield High School, where he was a varsity letterman in Baseball and Football. John went on to play semi-professional football with the Dunellen Blue Birds. John served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War Era. For 40yrs, John was a Steel Fabricator, Draftsman, and Template Maker for Harris Structural Steel Co., South Plainfield. John was also an avid bowler and golfer.

John is survived by his loving companion of 70 yrs. Della Baraldi; his niece Maureen Connors (John Fackelman); his two nephews Thomas L. Connors (Nancy) and Kevin Connors (Theresa); and his two great-nephews Austin Connors and Thomas F. Connors.
