Walt Callis left with Pat McHugh Confederate Memorial Day June 5, 2010

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Walt Callis. Walt was a good friend to everyone he knew. He was a fine historian who helped us many times attending Sons of Confederate Veterans Memorial Services at Loudon Park and at the General Lee and General Jackson Monument in Wyman Park.

Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to his family and friends. May he rest in peace under the shade of the trees.

He was a great man and I knew his daughter Wendy also So sorry for your loss

I knew Walt for the bigger part of my adult life. I met him through Civil War Re enecting and he meant the world to me. I loved him like a father and learned so much from him through the years and will miss him a great deal! The world truly lost a very special person.

Walt was one of my favorite people. We not only conversed about the War but our each knowing John's friend Duane.

Walt and Ed swiftly and quietly surrounded Martin O'Malley and Walt said to him ( " Sir, You are surrounded by CONFEDERATES!!! " ) The look on Martin...
