My son and I were in John's store on the Eastside many years ago to get my brother his hockey gear. John asked if my son played hockey and I told him my husband had just passed away and we could not afford the expense and that my son could not skate! John said he could learn to skate and asked my son Tony if he would like to play, of course he said yes and your Dad gave him all the equipment to get started!!! Tony lettered at St. Francis High School several years later! What a generous man...

I was one of those kids that John encouraged to learn and play hockey. He also recruited my father, who knew nothing of the sport, to become part of the team. He was a good neighbor, friend and a great asset to our community. Thank you, John. Our condolences to his family, Tom and Colleen Lopez

Sorry to hear about John. My dad, Charlie Heibeck, worked with John in Toyoa years ago. Didn't know John personally but dad spoke highly of John. Toyota was a great program. May God bring comfort to your family.
