John Carlisle Obituary

John Donald Carlisle Age 91, longtime Brentwood resident, passed away at Stonebrook Health Care Center in Concord, Wed, May 3, 2006. He was a member of the Brentwood Gun Club, SIRS of Discovery Bay, Brentwood Chamber of Commerce; past member of Tax Payers Association; member and past director of the Farm Bureau; member of Delta Informal Gardeners, the American Legion Roy Ferich's Post #202 of Brentwood (life member), the Antioch Post #6435 V.F.W. (life member) and the Commonwealth Club. John came to Brentwood in 1933 and worked on the family farm. He was employed in 1938 with Bank of America. John then served in the Marines from 1941-1945, Pacific Theater (three battles) including being awarded the Silver Star, Battle of Guam, 11th Amphibian Tractor Battalion, he was discharged with the rank of second lieutenant. After leaving the military he continued to farm, owning and operating an apricot and walnut ranch. He was employed at Central Bank and Holding Company as teller to Director on Board of Directors. John then later became senior vice president of Central Bank until his retirement. John leaves behind his loving wife Marlys Carlisle of Brentwood; adoring children Thomas Carlisle of Harpswell Maine, Nancy Hadley of Hampton Bays, Long Island; four grandchildren; brother, Roy Carlisle; and three nieces and two nephews.
