John was not only a garbage man, he also worked at the sewage treatment plant in Ashtabula. I worked alongside with him on the nightshift. It wasn't the best shift for a married man with children, but I, like John worked it because it wasn't as hectic as a daytime job, plus we were paid premium pay for working 3rd shift. There was a lot of down time on the shift it allowed John to work on his various art projects. He really honed his craft during this time. He went from a pretty good pencil...

I met John while at St. John High School and then when he worked for the City of Ashtabula. I knew of his artwork and commissioned a pencil-art drawing of the Ashtabula River area overlooking our house as a Christmas gift for my wife. The drawing is a cherished masterpiece and adorns our living room. Thank you John for a job well done!

A wonderful man, good friend and extraordinary artist. I'm proud to have known him, and wish I'd known him even better.

John was just beginning his art career at the time and would bring in his art works purposely to show me.
