John was a great attorney-highly intelligent and analytical with ethical principles. He was also an outstanding NU law professor and Navy veteran. John was a terrific person, a top-rate litigator and a caring and supportive law partner, with broad intellectual and cultural interests and a charming sense of humor. All of us who were privileged to know him will miss him.

John was a superb teacher, wonderfully clear and possessed of deep judgment. I saw him teach deftly at Northwestern Law in our Ethics program and in programs for practicing lawyers with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He also had a dry sense of humor that brought many smiles over the years.

John was a volunteer coach with the Maine South Constitution Team for many years. He really enjoyed helping young people learn about the Constitution and American history. He was also a dear friend.
