Not sure what to say?

I had the honor not only to play for Coach Carter at Adamson (1963 South Zone champions) but also to coach along side him for the one year that I taught at Adamson right out of college. It was the year (1969) that he coached in the state coaches association all-star game at the summer convention. As a student, I fondly remember him joining in shooting games with a few of us in the spring months after basketball season. We tried to win with unusual difficult shots, but he would win...

Coach Carter was the most influential man in my life. Through his continued efforts, which I made very difficult for him on many occasions, he taught me that giving up is never an option. This became the catalyst that started the change from a boy to a man. I had the opportunity to tell Coach this privately in 2009 and it was obvious that he was moved by these comments. Jake Carter was my mentor. I played for him in the late 1950s. In '59 we won the South Zone Championship and played for the City Championship against Thomas Jefferson, which we lost unfortunately. But we were
winners because we played for him.
I loved the Man,greatly. I will
never forget him.

A true Oak Cliff icon. Coach Carter touched so many lives and made us all better people. God Bless this dear man who served as a stellar role model for us young inner city kids attending Adamson HS A second father to me and my brothers. His family is in the Oak Cliff Boys prayers.

Coach was not only a Great Coach, but a good man, he will be missed. I played for him on the "64" team, he was a great leader. " There will be no more like "64" . Ron Young

Jake was a great man. He always had a great smile and encouraged you with just a hand shake. My deepest condolences to the family.

When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Coach Carter your memories will be in so many students lives who were fortunate to have known you, been taught by you. You were one of those rare teacher/coach's who touched so many. W.H. Adamson class 1964-1968. Rest in Peace Coach Carter.

Sharon, you certainly have our sympathy and are in our prayers at this time. God bless.
