Not sure what to say?

No one who loved Alfa Romeos as avidly as John could ever be forgotten! RIP, John!

As I sat in a Finance Committee Meeting this week, I was wishing that John could be with us to hear the great news of a long awaited dream come true. The School has been able to purchase its high school building at 544 Elmwood Ave., and has successfully applied for 40% reimbursements from the state to support the phased renovations and improvements that it needs. John would have been so pleased by the negotiations in our school's favor, and the agility and dedication with which the Committee...

There isn't an adequate way to express how deeply John affected Paul Cuffee School and its success stories. When we look back over our 20 year history, the themes of wise counsel, philanthropic generosity, optimism, community engagement, and social responsibility all come to mind. Our school would not be in existence without the Carter Family's investment in our school's mission, culture, programs and facilities. We miss John's intelligence, sense of humor, and passion for taking care of each...

Dear Members of the Carter Family,

John Carter was my favorite kindly and wise advisor. I miss his advice. When we last corresponded by email, shortly before his death, he told me he was embarking upon a new journey. I did not understand at the time. On the anniversary of his death, my husband Ralf and I are thinking of him and wishing that the journey of which he spoke has been good. He was a special person.

Dearest Letitia, I am deeply saddened by your loss. When Bill and I first met you and John in Harbor Island long ago, where we were the only guests, we became instant friends. How fortunate we were! Your love and generosity meant a great deal to us, and now that Bill has also left this earth, will never be forgotten by me.

Letitia, I send this with deepest sympathy for the loss of such a loving and generous soul. John (and you) will live on for a long, long time through the many organizations you have supported and the 1,000s of individual who have been directly impacted by your kindness. Arts and Education in Rhode Island have your stamp of generosity on them and are elevated because of your support. with heartfelt appreciation and sympathy, Michelle Novello

To the entire Carter family. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you for your loss.

Dear Letitia:

I am deeply saddened by your loss. You and John have made a great contribution to the State of RI in general and VMA in particular. I still remember your passion and dedication for this organization. Please accept my sincere condolences.

To Letitia and Family:

Please accept our heartfelt condolences. We can only imagine how hard it is to lose your beloved husband, father and grandfather. May stories, photographs, and memories bring you comfort as you integrate this profound loss into your daily lives.

As you may know, John was an esteemed member of the Paul Cuffee School community for more than 15 years and enjoyed close relationships with our founding Board President Dave Burnham and Head of School David...
