John Lacy Chapman

Karen, We only heard the sad news yesterday when we had lunch with David Kimes in California. We were reminiscing about all of our shooting adventures and of course you and John came up. So many happy times, so many great adventures. He was a good friend--definitely one of a kind. May the happy memories brighten your days. He will be missed but never forgotten.

John will be dearly missed. I will miss seeing him at the Long Bow State Championships and at the cattle drives on his ranch. When I was a young girl John would always give me the biggest hugs and give me a kiss on the cheek. I always thought it was so cool to know a true cowboy and to call him a family friend of mine. I am glad he got to make it to my wedding and meet my husband. He said that he liked his name, Ramsey. "That's a strong name.
Ramsey is one lucky fellow", he said....

Dear Karen, I am saddened to hear of John's passing. Such a dear friend and fellow smallbore competitor. I will forever cherish the memories of our match experiences. John helped and inspired me in so many ways. Charlie Baxter

John was a great friend and true competitor. I shot many smallbore matches with him and neither of us liked to lose. Everything he did in life he pursued until he mastered it before he moved on. We have lost a great friend. Karen and family please accept our deepest condolences.

John was a great supporter of the TCU Women's Rifle Team and familiar face in Aledo. His generosity was a great help to our family and many others. He was a unique individual--truly one-of-a-kind. His personality was larger-than-life. Although personally we did not know him well, we will TRULY miss that he is no longer in this life with us. We hope the memories of the very special and wonderful life he lived will comfort his family and loved ones. Happy trails, John.

We are so very sorry for your loss. We have many framed pictures in our home of John on his many hunting adventures and loved to hear his amazing stories. My husband went on many hunting & fishing trips with him when he was younger & will cherish those memories forever. Our hearts are with you during this time. He was a great man.

I met John about 4 years ago as I transitioned to a role as his banker. I am a late in life "cowboy wannabe" and I could not have found a better role model. We became friends as he mentored and encouraged me in my dream. We talked cowboy and Indian history, horses, cattle, baseball, and life in general. Always positive in every story and life experience he shared. THE consumate cowboy. My life is better today because of my friendship with Cowboy John. My sincere condolences to all family...

I am so sorry for your loss. John was such a gentle and kind person. We have always thought very highly of him. He seemed to never meet a stranger. Katie always looked forward to seeing him at the range. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God bless you and give you the strength you need during this time.
