Not sure what to say?

Judy and I always looked forward to our visits during the Pedro Reunions. You are missed. Fred Bergold

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. As a fellow HH-43 pilot, I shared some exciting times with John flying rescue missions. So sad to see he has taken his last flight. Sincere condolences to all family and friends.

We always looked forward to our visits, they will be missed.

I served with John on my first flying assignment as a Jolly Green pilot at Elmendorf AFB Alaska, 1977-1981. He was a good pilot and provided wise council to a brand new 2Lt copilot. I remember him well, we flew a few missions together. Rest in peace John. Dan Beatty, Lt Col, USAF (Ret)

For many years, John was a regular member of our monthly Rivershore veterans breakfast group, to which he brought great memories and the vibrant spirit of a lifelong aviator. His Air Force service and his example as an American will continue to inspire us. We will truly miss him, but we know that he has, as the poet wrote, "put out his hand and touched the face of God."

We shared wonderful times with John and family when we were stationed in Germany. John and and I were sent TDY to Ethiopia for a three month TDY to support a photo mapping mission. We were flying mappers and supplies to high mountain sites as the HH-43B was capable of reaching the high sights. We were crudely camping until lions approached at which time we decided to sleep in the helicopter! John was truly a good man and a dear friend. Our deep condolences for John´s beloved family.

John has been such a dear friend. One of my fondest memories is when he played Santa Claus at church. He did such a great job that my granddaughter, who knew him her entire life never knew it was him. We could always count on John if help was needed and he always provided a kind word. John truly walked in the ways of our Lord and Savior.
