Rigby Harting and Hagan Funeral Home - Media Obituary

Wayne Congar, 63, of Philadelphia, formerly of Glen Mills and Media, died suddenly on December 13 while on a cruise in Central America. He passed at the end of a wonderful day traveling through the Panama Canal and at sea in the Caribbean.

Mr. Congar owned and operated a successful legal practice.

For over 21 years, Mr. Congar was Executive Vice President and Legal Counsel for the Home Builders Association of Chester and Delaware County. He served as a Commissioner on the Delaware County Housing Authority for over 25 years.

He was an active member of the Springhaven Golf Club and walked the course with his golf buddies as often as possible. He and his wife have traveled the world and, closer to home, Wayne enjoyed riding through Philadelphia on his Vespa scooter.

His life was devoted to his family and he was thrilled to watch his children grow into successful adults. His adventurous spirit, kind heart and invaluable advice will be deeply missed by his wife of 41 years, Betty Congar, his loving children, Amanda Congar (Philadelphia) and Wayne Congar, Jr. (New York), and his sister, Carol Martin (Paoli).

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Rigby, Harting and Hagan Funeral Home 15 E. Fourth Street, Media, PA 19063 at 12 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Luncheon will follow the service at The Springhaven Club, 600 South Providence Road, Wallingford, PA.

Not sure what to say?

Betty and family, I was so sad to find this. I can still hear Waynes voice in my head. My brother and I still have great memories of painting Club Mirage for him long ago. We laugh about it still and Waynes voice message if ya called the club! A True one of a kind great human. He was a great mentor to many including me!

All of your thoughts and prayers are with me. Thank you.
Betty Congar, Philadelphia, Pa
