Dear Cousin Gloria, Stephanie, and Brian,
We are so sorry to hear about John's passing. It always seems that there will be time in this life to pull together and visit with family who have moved throughout the country, but once again we see that time flies by and the opportunity for visiting is gone. John clearly accomplished a great deal in his life. Our prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.

My father, Stuart Fitzsimmons, was so fond of John. Dad, himself, was killed in a traffic accident in 1984. He was a past president of The Greene County Fair at Carrollton and was so proud of John's success in the racing world. I remember John being at our farm several times back in the 1950s. He was a fine person, and I wanted to express my sympathy even though I haven't had the pleasure in knowing John in recent years. My thoughts are with his family during this sad time.

God bless you and keep you, Gloria, at this especially hard time. Our most heartfelt sympathy.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.

Gloria and family, I am deeply sadden by John's death. My husband Dick Champion has also passed. Dick graduated in the class of 1955. Such a shock to read about. I will keep you in my prayers. Liz Champion

I just got this sad new this morning. I am shocked. John was a very close friend for many years. Our relationship started when he raced Harkwin. Our respect for one another was long lasting. He leaves a huge void. To the entire family is my deepest sympathy.

I remember John beginning in the late 40's at Corse Elementary School in Burlington, Iowa. We palled around a lot, and I considered him a good friend. So sorry to hear of John's untimely death - we missed him at this years 55th BHS reunion, and now he's gone. My condolences to all of John's family and friends.
