Not sure what to say?

What good moments our family had with John and his wife, Marie. When our kids were quite young, a mere 20 years ago, John and Marie were surrogate local grandparents. John listened to Dane and Dre over the years, attended school programs and functions, engaged them in conversation, and encouraged them to reach for the stars. Truly a gift to our entire family.

It was my first foray into planned giving as a volunteer for the University Musical Society. John was a mentor for me to help teach the how to's -- most importantly from how a potential donor needs to be heard. He taught lessons about how to listen to others and how others want to be respected that have been close to me ever since.

RIP John. I have fond memories of your association with the Michigan Flight Museum and your support of the B-17 Yankee Lady. I recall also flying with you in our Flying Fortress on one occasion and also our many lunches together when you lived in Ann Arbor. Condolences to your son David and daughter Eloise and all of the Clarks.

We are the richer for simply having known John Alden Clark. We are better from having heard him share invaluable lessons. Our grief is made lighter knowing he is once again with the love of his life, Marie.

John and Marie were lovely neighbors. I recall fondly moving in two doors down 30+ years ago with a baby and toddler in the heat of summer. Like a gift from the gods, John and Marie showed up with lemonade and cookies. Sigh...

I was a student at U of M in Mechanical Engineering and faculty member for a number of years. John Clark was special in so many ways. He will be missed by all who knew him, but we also know where he is today in Heaven.

I met Dr. Clark at the Yankee Air Museum (now Michigan Flight Museum) He was always gracious and I enjoyed listening to his "war stories". I have both books (his and Marie's). I was proud to be his friend on Facebook.

I had the extreme honor and privilege of meeting this great man and patriot at an 8th Air Force 100BG reunion, and shaking his hand and thanking him for his bravery and service to our great nation. It´s not politicians, or Hollywood movie stars, or professional sports figures that make America great. It´s brave and courageous men who love their country and defend the liberty and freedom of all Americans, and the entire world, like Lt. John Clark.
