John Earl “Johnny” Clark, 66, of Holy Cross, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.  He was born February 15, 1959 in Nelson County.  He owned and operated Clark’s Tavern in Holy Cross.  


Johnny was preceded in death by his father, William T. “Frank” Clark; two sisters, Marian E. Higdon and Theresa Elaine Wathen.


Survivors include two sons, Matthew and Tyler Clark of Bardstown; one granddaughter, Makayla Clark;  his mother, Lorene Peake Clark of Holy Cross; five sisters, Darlene Wideman (David) of Radcliff, Jane Dragoo (Jimmy), Cathy Fenwick (Mike), and Lola Ballard (Ralph), all of Bardstown and Roxanne Norris (Glenn) of Holy Cross; six brothers, Frankie Clark (Rhonda Krauss) of Bardstown, Eddie Clark of Holy Cross, Charles Clark (Elaine) of Loretto, Mark (Cathy), and Phillip Clark, all of Holy Cross, and Steve Clark of Saint Francis; many nieces and nephews.


Cremation was chosen.  Memorial Services will be held at 11 am Friday, August 22, 2025 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  Inurnment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.


The memorial visitation is 3-8 pm Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 pm.
