Not sure what to say?

Just heard about this from my sister (JoLynn Adams (Sanderlin). Dr. Clarke is how I have always known him. He was so amazing to my mother (June Faye) and father (Joe Sanderlin) over the years. Mom worked for MANY years at Va Beach Surgery and retired from there. It was Dr. Clarke that treated my mother like family, which was how he did for the entire office. So many stories of love and support and I just wanted you to know he is thought of often and besides how amazingly intelligent he was,...

Dr. Clarke was agreat man to whom I owe a lot. He personally took me to Randolph- Macon College and used his influence there both to get me admitted and to be awarded the Randolph Macon Award Scholarship which allowed me to graduate college with no debt. He will be missed.

Walt and I send our deepest condolence to Joye, Jennifer, Brac and all of the Clarke family.

John was much more than a friend to me, he was a mentor and my "medical father." He took me under his wing from the first day we met at the beginning of my medical career in Virginia Beach in 1982. When he consulted on the patients we shared I knew they were receiving not only the best medical care possible, but care that was delivered with compassion and grace. As a friend we shared many good times in the Charles Wesley Choir and in...

John was such a mentor and friend to our family. His advice, wisdom, guidance and friendship was greatly treasured. He lived his faith daily and was such a source of inspiration for so many. May your memories comfort you as you grieve such a great loss.

Good memories of a fine man and a special doctor. Virginia Beach General Hospital days. He will be missed, but remembered fondly. Dee Paske

John was one of the most compassionate doctors I worked with at Beach General. As part of the Administrative Staff I would take my turn to do "night rounds". When I would get to the ICU I would often find John in a patient room leaning back against the wall taking cat naps. If he had a patient he was particularly concerned about post-surgery he would spend part or all of the night in the ICU. During my 40 year career, I never saw another doctor stay overnight with a patient. John was...

The Gray family in California and Florida have fond memories of John and his family eating his father´s Brunswick stew in Newport News. John and Nelson spoke affectionately the past two years during our health journeys. We will miss his warmth and sincerity.

Love You Uncle John/Sea Doc!
