John Patrick Clinch, commonly known as Jack, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon in St. John Macomb Hospital. He was 84 years of age.
Jack was born on March 18, 1924 in Detroit, son of the late Patrick and Johanna (Nolan) Clinch. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. During his service, Jack was medical technician and worked on the Queen Elizabeth. He also was a POW camp guard. After his tour of duty was over, he began work at Vernors Soda Company while attending night school at the University of Detroit, attaining a bachelor’s degree in Accounting in four short years. He worked as the Treasurer and the Controller of the company for 42 years retiring in 1982. He was united in marriage to his beloved, Eleanor, on September 12, 1959. The couple made their home in Warren in 1960. Jack enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, golf and in his younger years, boxing. He was a man of honor and integrity; a father figure and mentor to others.
