Not sure what to say?

Uncle Bud was a very special person. He provided a lot of support to mother during her final days and we really appreciated it. It was obvious from the memorial service that he was a strong member of his church and a real supporter of his family. Please know that we share your grief and that you are in our prayers.

My father, FAA pilot, Murrell Johnson, was always very fond of John Cofer. I'm sure they are swapping old stories today!
My condolences to my grade school friend, Debbie, and to the entire Cofer family.

The one thing I'll always remember 'bout Cofer: he made the statement in the training class to John Coley & myself that he wouldn't let his mother ride an airliner out of ATL with us working it! I guess all of those T-38's training flights at Craig AFB proved that he had to eat those words!

I had the great priviledge of working with John during my FAA career. He was an outstanding person in every way. Rest in peace my friend.

I first met John in early 1966 when we were attending the same Training Course at the Academy. I was a 22 year old controller with the DOD and during the class I received my FAA new hire notification to report to ZJX the following week. John noticed my panic over what to do and, with a single phone call to the RO, arranged for a later reporting date. Twelve years later we worked together at the RO. His son may remember my 1770 Olds that he bought for him. He was a class act! God's...

TO ME, JOHNNY WAS JC, WHICH WAS HIS CALL SIGN AT ATLANTA CENTER. OUTSIDE OF WORK, HE ENJOYED GOING TO SEE THE ATLANTA CRACKERS PLAY BASEBALL AT THE OLD PONCE DE LEON BALLPARK IN THE MIDDLE 40'S.

John was the training officer at the Atlanta ARTCC when I entered on duty in 1958. He was helpful in insuring my success as a center controller. My sincere condolences to John's family.

John was one of the first of many gentlemen and dedicated professionals I had the priviledge of meeting and working with in the Southern Region. As a gentle man, John leaves a legacy giving profound meaning to "gentleman" and "Professional".

With sincere regrets for his last flight, and sympathy to his family, I salute Mr. John Cofer.

Sincerely,
Lonnie D. Parrish
