John G. Colis

I was shocked to see this in the newspaper today. John was my 'nono' (godfather). He was my parent's koumbaro when they married. My family and his were the best of friends. My father (James Makris) sold his restaurant to them while he had the parking lot next door. My father also was with them in Greece long ago.

I loved my nono dearly, his zest for life, travel and people. He found something interesting in everything he did and has always been a great inspiration to me. He...

I would have to say that John Colis was one of the most unique individuals I have ever known and I believe he wanted it that way. I remember him often saying to me "Never follow anyone be your own man!" It will be hard to find another person in this world with John's spot on advice and keen perception of the world.

John has touched so many of us with his kindness, caring, and the love and "The Heart of Gold" that embodied him.
