Not sure what to say?

Dear Colnon Family,
I think I only met Jocko once, at your childhood home in Glencoe while Mary, Anne Kelly and I were hangin' out in high school. I am now reminded by that encounter--his presence and booming laughter filled the room. It's hard to say goodbye to family, but these fresh days of sadness will eventually turn to smiles of memories past. My sincere condolences for your loss.

In the spring 2009, I met Jocko for the first time as a new member of Bob O'Link GC. An institution there, Jocko exhibited nothing but warmth and kindness toward this rookie. Over the next several years, I witnessed his understated gentlemanliness, playful cunning, and belly laughter. And a raconteur...one of the best!

God Bless Jacko and his family.

Jacko, my dear friend:
You will be missed by your fellow Brunonians. Your exploits at Brown, in and out of the pool, were legendary. Knowing you was a pleasure and made my life richer for the experience. And it truly was an experience. You were one-of-a-kind.

My deepest condolences to John (Jocko's) wife, children, and my many cousins on his very sudden death. When death comes without notice to someone too young, it is so very painful to take. I feel for you in your time of deep sorrow. Take the time you need to grieve. And over whatever time it takes, may your good memories overcome your tears.

With love,
Jocko's second cousin,
