Not sure what to say?

Jack and I hiked together for many years in Sedona, across the Grand Canyon once. He had been a Trailboss for the Sedona Westerners. A good friend. We missed him when he left Sedona in '06.

I'll miss you grandpa.
Thank you for the words of wisdom and the encouragement in the letters you sent me while I was at basic training.

Phil and Family, I was so sad when Paul read the news of Jack's passing. What a special friend he was to my dad.. the stories that I was told when they were growing up, and their continued friendship through college golfing and many Sunday morning golf games. I was trying to think what I could say and all I came up with was "everyone he met and touched in life, he left a very special memory". Phil I will miss the letters that Jack and I shared with each other after dad's passing., in...

In the fifty years I've known him, he never ceased to amaze and impress me. His wisdom & his wit, his varied interests & passions, his spirited strength & sense of adventure, his empathy & understanding, his fun loving nature & loyalty to others. Dad possessed a multitude of traits & qualities that endeared him to others, but the one I think was most often in evidence was that he genuinely cared about others. How many times have we seen him make a point of remembering someone's name &...

My condolences to the entire Coombs family. "Shaky Jake" was a classy, fun and nice man! I've told the story countless times about the book he said he was going to write entitled "How to line up your fourth putt".

To the Family

Not only has the family lost a wonderful patriarch but Purdue University sports has lost a long time dedicated fan. A friend to all. It was our honor to have known him and to have shared many boilermaker tailgate Saturdays with him. He will be dearly missed.

Dear Phyllis and family,
I was saddend to read of Jack's passing.i have fond memories of family cookouts at your home and of you and Jack, my folks, the Burkes and the Plantefabers with your yearly outings to the Notre Dame vs. Purdue games. Then there were the golf outings where Jack was always "the life of the party".
Please know how much Jack will be missed by all and that we are thinking of you at this time of sorrow with love and affection.

Our family's thoughts and prayers go to the large family with the loss of the patriarch Uncle Jack. He lived a long and successful life surrounded always with family and friends. From the Barthold family, Tom, Bill and Sue
