COON, John Michael - Of Flint, age 45, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. Visitation 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. John was born in Flint, Michigan on September 27, 1964, the son of John and Barbara (McKenna) Coon. He married Melissa Mayhew on March 22, 1986 in Flint. John worked at Meijer for 28 years. He was an avid KISS fan and collector. Surviving are his wife, Melissa; daughter, Micheila Coon; son, John Michael Coon Jr.; father, John and wife Marsha Coon; mother, Barbara McKenna; brother, Terry and wife Denise Coon; sister, Lindsay Coon; mother and father-in-law, Edwin and Joanna Mayhew; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. I am so sorry to hear of John's death. I had him as a student in Elementary School and he was such a wonderful person. It was a privilege to have been his teacher. Prayers to all of his family. Betty Bare-Parker

Dear Melissa & family of John Coon,
I was so saddened & shocked to read of his recent death. Many years ago he was one of my Cub Scouts who met every week in our house here in Burton. He lived only a block over from us. Then years later I would often see him at Meijer's & he & I would enjoy a little chat. So very sorry for your loss & for us, his friends.
