John L. Cormier, 85, of Newington, beloved husband for 63 years of Clara (Cirilli) Cormier, died Sunday December 1, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Lille, Maine son of the late Louie and Sadie (Cyr) Cormier and had lived in West Hartford before moving to Newington 14 years ago. John operated the former Auto Typist Co. for 30 years and had worked and retired from A & A Office Machines. He was a communicant of Holy Spirit Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed bowling and walking. John was an avid sports fan of the UCONN Huskies and NY Yankees. He adored his grandchildren and loved his entire family. Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Dennis and his wife Liz of West Hartford, Ronald of Harwinton, Wayne and his wife Donna of Belleville, IL and Scott and his wife Katie of Rocky Hill, his daughter, Karen and her spouse Marian of East Hampton, seven grandchildren, Thomas, Rebekah, Jeffrey and his wife Laura, Christopher, Rachel, Kevin and Ryan, a great grandchild, Julian, his brother Conrad and his wife Virginia of Wethersfield and many nieces and nephews, he was predeceased by four sisters and five brothers. The funeral will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 9 a.m. from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church St. Newington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
