Not sure what to say?

Dear Kitty, Mary Jane, and Johnny,

So shocked to read just today of your dad's passing. As I read the current Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine, I was thrilled to see that he was to be honored at a benefit dinner near our home in Bastrop and was hoping to attend.

The years have taken us all down many roads, but the road I dearly loved was Carolane Trail. My love to you all from the skinny kid across the street, Esther Wood Wilson.

Dear John,

Sorry to hear to about the passing of your father. I still rember those days fishing in Rockport with you and your father during our breaks from San Marcos Academy. He was a true Texas teasure and will be missed by many.

Dear Kitty, Janie, John,
I loved going to the Houston studio and watching our dads paint when I was a little girl. Even as a child I knew he was an exceptional artist. Our thoughts are with you all.

May you rest in peace, Jack Cowan. You have set the standards for wildlife artistry for as long as I can remember. Will always treasure your stamps and prints; especially those for the Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Gulf Coast Conservation Association.

To Jack's Family:

Your father has always been very special to me as well as my late father, Tommy Lovett , because of his love of our Texas wildlife and his talent to express it. Jack took such an interest in people along with the sport that they supported and because of that , I am truly blessed to have one of his few portraits. God bless all of his family, and God rest a true sporting gentleman.

Very sincerely,
Gaye Lovett Davis

Mr. Cowan always said "That was my fathers name and you may just call me Jack." He was always such a special man here in Rockport and we will all miss him very much. One can never look at a sunrise here on the Gulf with out thinking of him being out there with a fishing pole in his hand.

Kitty, Janie, John,
I apologize for my tardy note. I did not hear until yesterday that Jack had passed away. That I respected and looked up to him is no real secret. I am so sad for your loss, but mine too. To treat a stranger the way he treated me was extraordinary. I will not forget.

Sincerely,
Bill, and of course Marsha

May the Lord bless you with many more covey rises in heaven.

You were truly "A Texas Treasure." And will be sorely missed.

Godspeed Mr. Cowan.
