23Sep81 as a young recruit i and the other members of 2nd platoon, will never forget that smile and the guidance given to each and everyone of us!! 2nd platoon 2nd to none!!

I am deeply saddened to just learn of John's passing and want to express my deepest condolences! I too have the same fond memory as Tim, for me it was June of 1981 when I too first met John's cheerful smiling face as he greeted us (Bravo-11) with such a warm and open heart into the United States Army, Ft McClellan, AL. Years later while he was serving with 2d Army, Redstone Readiness Group, HSV, AL, I was commanding a reserve MP company just a town over, I'll never forget the day I saw that...

To the family may God bless you all. I met this wonderful man on feb 5,1981. He walked on board the bus and as politely as possible informed the newly arrived recruits who he was and what we were to do. I remember the dip in his mouth and the broke hand but that didnt stop him. About 3 weeks later he acgot involved in a game of baseball with us. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know I didn't know Chris as an adult but reading about him today, it is obvious he was a Man dedicated to serving and helping others. I know you will miss him....My prayers will be for comfort for each of you in your grief.
